J.H. Williams III

J.H. Williams III was recently the artist on a critically-acclaimed run of Detective Comics featuring DC’s Batwoman. It was recently announced that he would be co-writing and providing art for the upcoming Batwoman series. During his career he has also been the artist on Promethea, a collaboration with Alan Moore.

Al Bigley

Jim Keefe

Jim Keefe is a graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art.  From 1996 to 2003 he wrote and illustrated the historic comic strip Flash Gordon, for King Features Syndicate.

Keefe now teaches comic art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.  He and Kurt spoke about Flash Gordon, and comic books as they relate to higher education.

Steve Rude

Steve Rude has been working professionally in comic books for nearly 30 years. Characters that he has drawn include Nexus, Captain America, Batman and Superman. In recent years, Steve has not done much comics work, concentrating instead on "gallery art."

Robert Venditti

Robert Venditti is the writer of the graphic novel The Surrogates.  That story was recently adapted into a major Hollywood movie starring Bruce Willis.  He's also currently working on adapting the Percy Jackson book The Lightning Thief into a graphic novel.

Robert and Kurt talk about comics being adapted into film, and adapting other storytelling forms into comics.

James Sturm

James Sturm is the author of several graphic novels published by Drawn & Quarterly.  In 2001 his book, The Golem's Mighty Swing, was named the year's best graphic novel by Time Magazine.  Sturm is also a founder of the Center For Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont.

On March 31st Sturm's latest graphic novel, Market Day, was released. He and Kurt discuss the new book, and talk about comics and higher education.

Terry Beatty

Terry Beatty is a cartoonist well-known for his collaboration with Max Allan Collins on the character Ms. Tree, as well as serving as an inker for various Batman Adventures projects for over a decade.  

Terry and Max Allan Collins are now collaborating on the sequel to Road to Perdition, which was adapted into a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks.  Terry and Kurt talk about that project, and Terry's career.
